Chin Families
We have about 20 families originally from Chin State in Myanmar. Some of those families are part of the UBC congregation and worship with us on Sunday mornings. They also have services in Burmese on Sunday nights. UBC provides support to these families by donating furniture, clothes and other items such as back-to-school supplies. We also help provide children’s Bible education on Sunday nights. Contact DeWanna Banks for more information.

Chinese Scholars
The Chapel Hill Chinese Christian Church meets in the UBC Community Room for worship on Sunday mornings. They also have a Friday night ministry aimed at scholars from UNC and Duke visiting from China. This is an opportunity for these visitors to learn about Christ in a free environment. You can show God’s love by sharing a meal and conversation to help our visitors practice English pronunciation. We also help provide children’s Bible education on Friday nights. Contact DeWanna Banks for more information.

Eye Care Team
Members of UBC and our community sometimes need a helping hand. Eye Care Team members identify these needs (food for the sick or recently hospitalized, cleaning, special projects such as food drives, etc.) and send volunteers to the rescue. All helping hands welcome! Contact Donna Brooks for more information

Diaper Ministry
Please donate diapers and baby wipes for our Chin families. Contact DeWanna Banks for more information.

Furniture and Household Items
Our Chin families and Chinese scholars often have needs for furniture and household items, especially when they first arrive in this area. Items or money can be donated any time to support this ministry. Contact Lee Richardson for more information.

Clothes Closet
The UBC Clothes Closet is a clothing ministry for anyone in our church but is specifically focused on the children of our Chin families. The closet started in 2011 from the idea that many of the American families were handing down and sharing clothes with each other. We wanted to extend our sharing to the Chin families. We share clothes and needed items three times a year- at Christmas, Easter, and at back-to-school time in August.

If you have a child age 0 to 18, we would be grateful for your outgrown clothes. If you have neighbors or family members with children, we would be grateful for their outgrown clothes. If you are not connected with children during this season of your life, we would be grateful for you to spend a bit of time thrift store shopping, donating a bit of money, or working upstairs to sort and organize clothing. Contact Betsy Watson for more information.

Prison Ministry                                                                                                                                                         UBC Prison Ministry provides support to inmates through letters, visitation, and supplementing their commissary accounts (funded by donations). Right now, we are working with Prison Books Collective to provide reading material to NC inmates.
Contact Susan Girdler for more information.

Food Donations
Nonperishable items can be placed in the bin in the Gathering Area outside church offices. These donations are periodically delivered to the IFC. Check the IFC website for current needs.
