The UBC Clothes Closet is a clothing ministry for anyone in our church but is specifically focused on the children of our Chin families, meeting the needs of 29 children this year. The closet started six years ago from the idea that many of the American families were handing down and sharing clothes with each other. We wanted to extend our sharing to the Chin families.
Our clothes closet is located on the third floor of the church beside the youth Sunday School class. We give gently used and new clothing, toys, and school supplies.
We share clothes and needed items three times a year– at Christmas, Easter, and at back–to–school time in August. Currently, we are preparing clothing and gifts for Christmas.
If you have a child age 0 to 18, neighbors or family members with children, we would be grateful for your outgrown clothes. If you are not connected with children during this season of your life, we would be grateful for you to spend a bit of time thrift store shopping, donating a bit of money, or working upstairs to sort and organize clothing.
This year we are organizing our Christmas giving differently than we have done before. We are setting up an Angel Tree format. Please watch in coming weeks for announcements about our tree.
When the tree is ready, please choose cards from the tree which list specific items for specific children. Our proposed deadline for Christmas items is Sunday, December 3, 2017. Thank you for your continued prayers and support of this ministry.
